Congratulations to the girls softball team on winning the IAAM “A” conference championship crown on Saturday, May 12 at Harford Community College. It was their second softball A conference title and the first since 2001.
In the championship game, McDonogh faced Archbishop Spalding who defeated them twice in the regular season. But that didn’t stop the Eagles. In an article in the Baltimore Sun, Coach John Folfas explained, “We lost the two games to them by a total of three runs. In the second game, we just weren’t hitting the ball. We told the girls to find a different approach today and to make some adjustments. We hit some hard balls today.”
Reacting to the final score of 1-0, Co-Athletic Director Mickey Deegan added, “Great pitching, defense, and one run got the job done!”
