While the pandemic caused National Geographic to cancel their annual GeoBee this year, McDonogh’s Middle School decided to keep the tradition alive. After a division-wide competition, nine students earned a spot in the McDonogh Middle School Geography Bee finals on Friday, April 16. The finalists took the stage in the Horn Theater to answer questions about U.S., world, and physical geography in front of a virtual audience of their schoolmates.
In the end, the last two finalists standing were Henry L. ’28 and Anna H. ’27. Henry took home the championship title by correctly answering the final question: A country that borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea is the world’s leading producer of olive oil. Name this country. The correct was answer was: Spain.
