McDonogh's FIRST Lego League (FLL) robotics team, known as Eagle Eyes, enjoyed a successful 2021-2022 season. Of the 200 teams that competed this year, team Eagles Eyes were one of 38 teams that qualified for the Maryland state championship tournament.
In the championship, the team performed extremely well in all four of the competition areas: innovation project, robot design, core values, and the robot game. With a personal record score of 410, the team placed 12th overall of the 38 teams competing in the Robot Game. They were recognized as a Robot Design Award finalist, which is awarded to the teams with “outstanding programming principles and solid engineering practices in developing a robot that is mechanically sound, durable, efficient, and highly capable of performing challenge missions.”
The team members that participated in the state competition included: Felix M.’27, Rajan M. ’28, Jake K. ’28, and Thomas R. ’28.
