Team USA, including McDonogh School’s head girls varsity head coach Taylor Cummings '12, earned the gold medal in the World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship tournament that concluded on Saturday, July 9 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium. Not only did Cummings score a goal in the final game (11-8) against Canada, but during the tournament, she also set an American all-time record of 56 draw controls.

Prior to the game, Cummings, the only three-time winner of the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, spoke with the Baltimore Banner about the significance of the championship being played in Baltimore. She said, “We’re in position to be the first team to win the gold medal as the host country. To do that in my own backyard would be really special.”
