McDonogh School Board of Trustees President Michael Cummings and Head of School David J. Farace ’87 announced the successful completion of the Legacy Campaign, exceeding the $90 million goal and raising $96.6 million in support of the School’s people, programs, and purpose. The good news was shared with the McDonogh Community on Thursday, July 11.

Publicly launched in 2023, the Legacy Campaign is the most successful capital campaign in McDonogh’s history, eclipsing the $75 million raised in its previous campaign, which ended in 2010. It is also the largest amount raised by an independent school in the Baltimore area.

Farace said, “Surpassing our goal of $90 million is a tremendous accomplishment and I am proud of the unwavering support from our community. There is no doubt that McDonogh is positioned to build on its foundation of excellence and provide the best possible educational experience for years to come.”

Gifts and commitments from more than 6,100 parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends funded the construction of a state-of-the-art Middle School building, augmented the School’s endowment to support students, teachers, and curriculum, and increased the annual fund by more than 10%.

McDonogh trustees Robert Bavar ’90 and Sam Wright ’64, alumni and major contributors to the Legacy Campaign, led the fundraising effort as co-chairs. Wright says, "When we embarked on this campaign, we set an ambitious goal, aiming not just to meet the needs of today but to sustain educational excellence for future generations. We have exceeded all expectations and realized a vision that will shape our path forward.”
