Championships Go Swimmingly for Boys Team

McDonogh’s boys swim team floated away in first place at the MIAA “A” conference meet on Saturday, February 1 at Loyola University’s Mangione Aquatics Center. The Eagles have won six of the league’s last seven titles and this year McDonogh soared back to championship status scoring more than 460 points to regain the crown

Among the achievements earned by the team were:

  • Langston Duncan '25 won the 100 Yard Fly (29.34) and the 100 Yard Back (51.12)
  • Langston Duncan, Jack Mislow '26, Justin Shi '28, and Mark Cherches '25 won the 200-yard Medley Relay (1:34.79).
  • Additionally, McDonogh varsity swimmers claimed two second-place finishes, three third-place finishes, and four fourth-place finishes.

The JV team also won their championship title with first-place finishes in six of 11 races.

Athletic Director Mickey Deegan, who cheered on the team poolside, shares, "The boys' enthusiasm was palpable on the pool deck. The captains' encouraging words to the team before the first event fired the boys up. The Eagles were so determined to take down Gilman who had beaten them earlier in the season. What a comeback to witness! I am so proud of our coaches and swimmers".

Way to soar, Eagles!
