Three-peat for Girls Indoor Track Team

For the third consecutive year, McDonogh’s Girls Indoor Track Team has earned the IAAM “A” conference title. The championship meet took place on Friday, January 24 at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, MD.

The girls team battled hard and won 16 medals in 15 events earning 161 points, only 12 ahead of Maryvale, their nearest competitor. The Eagles took gold in 10 of the events. Following are some of the achievements:

  • Elise Cooper ‘25 won the 55, 300, and 500. Her 300 and 500 times were conference records and her 500 time was also the second fastest time in the US.
  • Elena Cooper ‘25 won the long jump and triple jump. She also came in second in the 55 and 300-meter dashes.
  • Kelsey Coley ‘25 won the 55 hurdles.
  • Morgan Heard ‘25 came in third in the 55 hurdles.
  • Caroline Birdsall ‘25 won the pole vault.
  • Julianne Dawn ‘27 came in second in the pole vault.
  • Julia Norris ‘25 won the shot put.
  • Chelsea Taylor ‘25 came in second in the triple jump.
  • The 4x200 relay team of Jada Reid ‘25, Allie Moore ‘26, Grace Richardson ‘27, and Kelsey Coley ‘25 won the 4x200.
  • The 4x800 relay team of Olivia Vassar ‘27, Catherine Reinhart ‘28, Delaney Zinsmeister ‘28, and Chrissy Vourlos ‘26 won the 4x800.
  • The 4x400 relay team of Kelsey Coley ‘25, Allie Moore ‘26, Caroline Birdsall ‘25, and Elise Cooper ‘25 came in second in the 4x400!
