In the time since Kimmy Hilson Carmichael ’10 graduated from McDonogh, she has remained loyally connected to the School. When she joined the Alumni Board in 2013, she started volunteering at events immediately. In her role as Chair of the Young Alumni Committee, she led the selection of the Young Alumni Award recipients each year and organized the annual Young Alumni Happy Hour over Thanksgiving weekend. Kimmy also served as a member of her 10-year Reunion Committee in 2020, and she volunteers her time to the McDonogh Fund while also giving consistently. Today, she is the Alumni Association President.
Kimmy volunteers her time so generously because she is extremely grateful for her nine years at the school which felt like a second home. She acknowledges that the relationships she formed as a student and has since maintained through adulthood would not have been possible without McDonogh.
Kimmy describes the McDonogh alumni community as vibrant, active, and passionate. “There are opportunities for alumni of all ages to engage, and the community is welcoming whether you have remained connected or you are just coming back after a post-graduation hiatus,” she says. “I hope that my position as Alumni Association President will inspire future alumni—especially young alumni—to remain engaged with the School. I also hope that students will continue having the great experience that McDonogh provided me.”
