Heather Ford - Retired Faculty & Staff - McDonogh School

Heather Ford

For an impressive 38 years, Heather Ford has been an impact player on McDonogh’s Upper School team, and today she is hanging up her black and orange jersey to transition into a well-deserved retirement.

Mrs. Ford became part of the McDonogh community in 1985 as an Upper School Counselor. In the early years of her career, she embodied the essence of a team player, exceeding expectations in a variety of roles from college counselor, teacher, and dorm parent to freshman class dean. Over time, she discovered her true calling as a full-time teacher, passionately sharing her knowledge of United States history, current events, and psychology with eager young minds. Her versatility extended to roles like cheerleading coach, community service coordinator, and freshman advisor. A dedicated "school person," throughout her career she shouldered a full range of tasks and responsibilities and strategically contributed her professional voice to Upper School and History Department-related matters.

While Allan 201 will forever bear the imprint of Mrs. Ford's collection of United States memorabilia, what will be missed the most, and is perhaps least known, are her annual handwritten notes to the seniors she taught, in which she shares memories of their growth and personal words of wisdom. These unseen efforts, along with her presence during home football games, lacrosse championships, and spring track meets, come from an educator who teaches the “whole child” and has left an indelible mark on this community.

Please join me in extending our warmest wishes to Mrs. Ford for a retirement filled with good health and much happiness.
