Earth Day

McDonogh Goes Green, the student-led Upper School club with a mission to make the School more sustainable, hosted its second annual Earth Day event across the school’s 800-acre campus on Friday, April 22. From potting air-purifying plants to help liven up classrooms to cleaning the trails and streams that meander through campus, the afternoon was full of activities that helped students learn about their environment and take action on a local level. Some students connected with their creative side as they transformed "trash" into artwork while others engaged in activities at Roots Farm that taught them about the journey from farm to fork and the impact of climate change on agriculture. This student-driven Earth Day tradition is quickly becoming a favorite, as upper schoolers look forward to getting their hands dirty and doing good for the environment.
