On Dedication Day, which takes place in the fall, the entire school community gathers at Childs Memorial Terrace to honor members of the McDonogh Family who passed away in the past year and to show gratitude for the people whose labor, commitment, vision, and generosity led to the establishment and growth of the School. During the ceremony, memorial wreaths are placed around campus, and as the names of the deceased are read, a flower is placed in an urn and the Chapel bell tolls for each person. In keeping with tradition, the program concludes with the playing of Taps.
