Take Apart Day is the ultimate hands-on, doing (or undoing) exercise for the fourth grade. Scheduled at the conclusion of their science unit on simple machines, the students armed with screwdrivers and other tools, dismantle a variety of unusable appliances, cameras, phones, and computers. Working together, they discover that many complex machines are powered by simple machines.
