Everyone wants to take the bus home on the last full day of school so they can be part of "the wave." Before boarding the buses and heading for a window seat, students receive hugs from teachers and administrators. Then, the fleet of more than 25 McDonogh buses pulls out of the parking lot in a well-orchestrated dance to the sounds of honking, cheering, and clapping. Meanwhile, faculty lining the side of the road, wave farewell to the children who enthusiastically wave back, shouting "good-bye" from the bus windows.
