Second Grade Effort Provides Warmth, Comfort

It’s been a cold winter for both man and beast, so Kate Hailstone’s second graders set out to provide warmth and comfort to both. First, the students learned to knit hats and scarves, which they sold to benefit the SPCA. The sale, which raised more than $325, inspired the students to collect pet food for the shelter. In early February, the class presented the money and food to the animal shelter and toured the facility to see first hand how their efforts are helping the organization care for the animals during the harsh weather.
