Welcome Picnic for Families of Black Students
More than 250 Black students and their families enjoyed a beautiful evening and a picnic on Tuesday, September 28 on the Ritter Terrace. The event, co-hosted by the Black Alumni Committee of the Alumni Association, the Equity & Inclusion Committee of the McDonogh Parents Association (MPA), and the student-led Sankofa Club, was an opportunity for alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff to see old friends and make new acquaintances.
After Head of School David J. Farace ’87 welcomed attendees, Director of Equity and Inclusion Dr. Lana Bates, Alumni Association President Josh Thomas ’06, MPA President Omari Jackson P’30, and several members of the Sankofa Club shared their roles and described the many ways in which students and parents can engage with the community and connect with each other.
