For the fifth consecutive year, McDonogh participated in Children's Mental Health Matters—a week-long state-wide campaign (May 1-5) filled with activities designed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect community members with mental health resources. Throughout the week, students enjoyed “mental health breaks” that highlighted ways to stay healthy in both body and mind. During advisory, homeroom, and free times, students were encouraged to journal, share positive messages in sidewalk chalk, meditate, and more.
On Tuesday, May 2, students in all three divisions traded their orange for green to bring attention to the importance of taking care of their mental health. An informational fair for middle and upper schoolers included music, activities, and ways that on-campus partners—the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the Wellness Team—can provide support. Off-campus providers including the Renfrew Center, Star Track, and Baltimore County Department of Health were a welcome addition to the event.
