On Wednesday, February 28, middle schoolers had the unique opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom. The day started with a field trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) where students explored the various collections. Then, everyone headed off to lunch at one of three locations and enjoyed a special activity based on their language groupings.
The Chinese language group visited the open kitchen of Tea Horse Sichuan Bistro in Ellicott City where the chef introduced the Sichuan style of Chinese cuisine. Students also enjoyed making (and tasting!) dumplings followed by a delicious lunch in the restaurant.
The French language group enjoyed French cuisine at Petit Louis Bistro in Roland Park. After lunch, they continued their exploration of UN Sustainable Development Goal #2 — Zero Hunger— by participating in a food-shopping simulation activity at a nearby grocery store to benefit the Community Crisis Center.
The Spanish language group ate arepas and a special lunch at Alma Cocina Latina restaurant in Baltimore followed by a visit to the Walters Art Museum where they learned about clay art from the Ancient Americas through a scavenger hunt.
A great day was had by all!
