Congratulations to Head Athletic Trainer Marty Sataloff, who was recognized by the National Prep Wrestling community at the championships on Saturday, February 24 with the 2024 Neil Buckley Service Award. The honor is awarded annually to an individual for their exceptional contributions to student-athletes and the sport of wrestling.

As Chairman of the National Prep Wrestling Tournament Henry Franklin presented the award, the following remarks were shared: “For 38 years Marty Sataloff set the standard for Athletic Training Care at McDonogh School as well as on the state and national level. McDonogh and the National Prep Wrestling Community have been extremely lucky to have him mat-side for so many years. His commitment to his craft and in particular the sport of wrestling has been unwavering.”

“Marty is a consummate professional, always ready and willing to serve student-athletes and the sport of wrestling. Whether it is taping an ankle, stopping a nosebleed, managing a weight loss program, or even driving a bus, Marty has been all in. A former coach, athletic trainer, and father of four boys who all represented McDonogh School at the National Preps, Marty has been in attendance for over 40 National Prep Tournaments. The National Prep Wrestling Community is extremely grateful for Marty's tremendous long-time commitment and unselfish service to our sport.”

Sataloff plans to retire from his role as McDonogh’s Head Athletic Trainer at the end of the 2024 school year.
