Art Auction to Benefit Hurricane Victims

A Silent Art Auction to benefit McDonogh 26, our sister school in Louisiana, whose students and their families were impacted by Hurricane Katrina, will be held on Wednesday, April 18 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Ceres M. Horn Theatre. Students, faculty, and other professional artists have contributed approximately 100 works of art in every price range, including paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, and more. There will also be a donation jar at the show for anyone who does not bid on art but would like to support McDonogh 26.

Senior Danny G. came up with the concept of the art auction last year after visiting relatives in New Orleans and witnessing firsthand the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Moved by the profound needs of those affected and a desire to help, he approached the art department with his idea. With their support, Danny has been planning the event ever since.

β€œIt is going to be a spectacular art show,” says Danny. β€œI would like to donate $1000 from this event.”
