Everest Climber Weihenmayer to Speak

Without vision since age 13, the accomplished mountaineer, skydiver, and skier has never let his blindness prevent him from living an exhilarating, fulfilling life. Erik speaks to audiences around the country on overcoming life's challenges, the importance of teamwork, and the daily struggle to pursue dreams.

The world-class athlete continues his quest to reach milestones thought impossible for a blind person. On September 5, 2002, when he stood on top of Mt. Kosciusko in Australia, Erik completed his seven-year quest to climb the Seven Summits - the highest peaks on each of the seven land continents. In doing so, he become one of only 100 mountaineers who have accomplished that feat. Erik will also be participating in the 2004 Eco Challenge, the most arduous adventure race in the world.

Weihenmayer has been a frequent guest on NBC's Today Show and Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Oprah, Good Morning America, and Inside Edition to name a few. He has also been featured on the cover of Time magazine and in Sports Illustrated and Men's Journal. Click here to read the Time cover story "A Hero's Ascent."
