John Fishback, a Natural Resource Ecologist who has extensive knowledge of Native American life, wildlife of the Eastern United States, and the Peruvian Amazon, returned to McDonogh's Lower School for "Native American Day." He taught first-graders all about the Native Americans who lived in the Maryland area. As part of the day's events, students made talking sticks, shields, dream catchers and constructed a sapling hut outside of Mrs. Irving's classroom. Megan N. '16 displayed the dreamcatcher she was working on and explained "The strings, which are supposed to be sticky, catch the bad dreams and the holes between the strings let the good dreams through."
