Folklore Ensemble to Perform

As part of its first tour to the continental United States, the Children’s Folklore Ensemble (CFE) Cecinka will perform at McDonogh School’s Ceres M. Horn Theatre on Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m. The CFE Cecinka group on this tour includes 35 students between the ages of 14 and 16 who dance, sing and play instruments to express Slovak folklore. Co-sponsored by the Czech and Slovak Heritage Association and McDonogh School, the show is the group’s only stop in Baltimore. There is no admission charge, but contributions of $10 for adults and $5 for children are suggested.

The CFE Cecinka was established at the School of the Arts of J. Kresanek in Bratislava in 1978. Since its foundation, it has trained more than 800 dancers, 100 musicians and singers, who have performed more than 1,000 shows not only in Bratislava but abroad. The World Artists Experiences, Inc. is responsible for bringing these engaging folk traditions to the United States.
