Upper schoolers are celebrating Franco-German Week April 7 to 11 along with 26 exchange students visiting from Ferney-Voltaire, France.
While the French students get to know American culture, McDonogh students are exploring the French and German way of life through movies, food, and music. Events include an after-school movie event, a concert in the chapel, and a lunchtime buffet of ethnic foods.
The celebration will conclude with a hat contest during Headmaster's Break on Friday. Students are invited to decorate and parade creative hats representing the French or German culture. They may also wear t-shirts related to either country.
McDonogh's exchange program with students from Ferney-Voltaire is more than 25 years old. The current group of visitors arrived late last week to stay with McDonogh students and their families. The French visitors have already gotten around: to the Baltimore Opera, Camden Yards, the National Aquarium, Washington, D.C., and the Amish country.
