Happy New Year!
First, Headmaster Bo Dixon joined teachers at the bus loop to greet lower schoolers with high fives, handshakes, and hugs. Then, the entire school community gathered for the traditional opening assembly at Childs Memorial Terrace. Seniors Mac and Glen, eighth-grader Erin, and pre-firsters Shane and Tucker welcomed all, and the headmaster rang the bell to start the school year.
Before sending students off to their new classes, the headmaster invited the entire school community to practice mutual respect. "I call on everyone this morning to reject actions, words or feelings that hurt others. We are flooded from all corners of the earth with examples of those destructive attitudes. We have a responsibility to continue to make this place different--the exception--a model of respect and care today, this year, for generations."
