Mingle & Munch 2003

"If you could have dinner with any famous person, living or dead, who would it be?" How many times have you played this game and wondered who you would choose? Ninety-six sixth-graders had a close encounter with their answers at the annual "Mingle & Munch" on Wednesday, December 17.

Brought from Texas to McDonogh School by English teacher Jeanne Mulligan, the "Mingle and Munch" allows sixth-graders to become the famous people that they research in reading, social studies, science, and English classes. The project culminates in a research paper and the opportunity to visit with other famous folks over doughnuts and juice.

Among the notables attending this year were: Nelson Mandela, Alexander the Great, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Cleopatra, John Glenn, Ruby Bridges, Margaret Mead, Jacques Cousteau, Lady Diana Spencer, Leif Eriksson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Maya Angelou.
