Parents of current McDonogh students may sign up for website accounts. Signing up for an account allows a parent to access the online directory, DASH, and your customized parent Personal Page.
Alumni can create an account in order to take advantage of McDonogh Connect or Pledgemail.
Featured guests include Admiral Hank Chiles ’56, USN (Retired); Major General Joseph P. Franklin ’51, U.S. Army (Retired); Louis V. Koerber ’45, creator of the annual Flag Day “Pause for the Pledge”; and decorated Vietnam veteran and Emmy-award winning journalist Jack P. Smith ’63, formerly of ABC News. Also on hand will be Reverend John D. Wolf, the young chaplain who was with Charles Carter Anderson ’42 when he died March 4, 1945 of wounds suffered on Iwo Jima.
“Memorializing these 70 men helps us to remember their bravery and resolve and reminds us that they were young, vibrant members of the McDonogh community who gave the ultimate gift to protect our way of life,” says school archivist Frayda Salkin, who began the restoration two years ago. She’s seen to it that their personal stories are told on touch-screen computer, their framed portraits appear on the wall, and their names are listed on bronze plaques. She hopes that students, in particular, will visit the lobby and get to know these heroes.
