The seventh grade sent 87 casseroles to the soup kitchen, Our Daily Bread, on April 16. The casseroles are part of a community service project that seventh-graders are doing in memory of Elizabeth Flick, Class of 1985.
A leadership committee of 11 seventh-graders researched Elizabeth's life and also interviewed Christine Smith, coordinator of Our Daily Bread. They put together a PowerPoint presentation with photographs of Our Daily Bread for the rest of the seventh grade. They also hung posters, made lunch announcements, and distributed recipes to the class.
Students dropped off their casseroles on their way up from the bus lot. Parent volunteers drove the casseroles downtown to 411 Cathedral Street to the soup kitchen.
Elizabeth Flick was was killed in an accident during the summer after her seventh-grade year. An enthusiastic student, she was involved in all aspects of school life.
