Student Work Becomes Part of “Beaded Blessings” Exhibit

Speaking to Upper School art classes and at an assembly, Clark explained to students what her international Beaded Prayers project signifies — "bead" and "prayer" have the same etymology, amulets relate to cultural and religious traditions.

Clark, professor of textile design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, instructed art students to make their own cloth packets, embroider them with beads, and tuck palm-size individual wishes or prayers inside each one. The students’ pieces will travel on with the show to the American Crafts Museum in New York.
