Teacher's Work is Highlight of Corcoran Exhibit

Photo teacher John Lehr, on leave from McDonogh while he earns his master of fine arts degree at Yale, has finally received some well-deserved attention for his work. He is one of 15 artists featured in the Corcoran Gallery's Biennial exhibit, which opened March 19.

As a subhead in the Washington Post reads: "John Lehr's Unusual Way Of Looking at Signs Carries The 48th Corcoran Biennial." In the accompanying article, staff writer Blake Gopnik writes of Lehr as a newly discovered talent. Writes Gopnik: "His photographs have barely been shown. Hardly a word has been written about them. And his pictures are original, and very good."

John Lehr plans to rejoin McDonogh's faculty in the fall of this year.
