After reporting that he is a good athlete, one child asked: "Do you like sports? Well, if you do, what sports do you like? I hope you're safe! I hope you come back to America soon!"

Wrote another eight-year-old: "I am wishing you good luck in the war. Have a happy belated Valentines Day!"

"Thank you for helping U.S.A. in fighting the war. Everyone in America is waiting for you to come back . . . I'm guessing your family is waiting too!"

As another third-grade correspondent wrote: "I want to ask you, how are you doing? When you come back your family will be waiting for you. I also think that when you get back you should get rewards!"
