Yearbook Wins National Honors

McDonogh's yearbook, The Legacy, has received national honors for its 2006 and 2007 editions.

The 2006 edition was chosen for publication in the Jostens' Lookbook, in the category of best yearbook cover. Jostens publishes 18,000 yearbooks annually, and thousands of schools apply for the increasingly competitive consideration. The Legacy is one of only seven yearbooks chosen from Maryland schools.

The 2006 cover symbolizes the publication's transition from black and white to full color. Cover photos in black and white become full color inside the book. The 2006 Legacy was edited by Deb and Jocie Sher '06. English teacher Beth Rheingold is the yearbook's faculty advisor.

The 2007 edition of The Legacy received a bronze award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the gold standard in student publication organizations.

Dr. Rheingold praises the student editors and photographers on The Legacy staff for their hard work. "If you bump into yearbook staff members, let them know what a great job they're doing! They help to produce one of the top yearbooks in the country."
