Whose Game is it Anyway?

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 23, when the McDonogh Parenting Education Committee will welcome Richard Ginsburg, Ph.D., author of “Whose Game is it Anyway?”

Dr. Ginsburg, sports psychologist and Harvard Medical School professor, will speak to parents at 7 p.m. in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre. He will reflect on the highly competitive youth sports culture and highlight issues and concerns particularly relevant to McDonogh parents.

Among other topics, Dr. Ginsburg will address:

  • the realities and myths surrounding college athletic scholarships
  • teaching important life lessons through sports participation
  • playing on elite teams at an early age
  • the pros and cons of specialization for young players;
  • navigating the competitive sports culture at any stage

Ginsburg, a Baltimore native and former independent school teacher, will show parents how their children can get the most out of youth sports. There will be a book sale and signing following Dr. Ginsburg’s presentation. His talk is free. All are welcome.
