"Mission Emmanuel" Takes Shape

Emmanuel Yeboah, born with only one leg, rode a bike across his native Ghana to prove that the physically challenged can achieve great things. Yeboah formed the Two Wheeled Foundation to empower Ghanians with physical limitations. He told his incredible story to the McDonogh community last October.

Seniors Brendan F., Kyle R., Danny B., and Ben L. were so inspired by Yeboah that they have created a K-12 project to send a container to Ghana filled with donated bicycles, shoes, and books. They hope to travel to Ghana for the opening of Yeboah's school in May 2010.

Faculty members from all three divisions are helping the four seniors involve students K-12. Related projects include:

  • Well, Well, Well concert on February 26 by the M.S. Rock Shop Club and Eighth Grade Leadership Group, with proceeds supporting Yeboah's Two Wheeled Foundation
  • Proposed active events to engage lower schoolers, such as a trike-a-thon or run
  • A proposed bike-a-thon fundraiser for upper schoolers

See the "Mission Emmanuel" button on the front page of this Web site to follow the project. If you have bikes, athletic shoes, or books at home that you would like to donate, stay tuned for details. Donations will be sought before spring break.
