The Institute for Shakespeare and Renaissance Studies at McDonogh School is proud to present a lecture by Peter McCurdy, builder of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London on Wednesday, November 2 at 7 p.m. in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre. This lecture will feature McDonogh students reading from passages consulted by McCurdy in his research. Admission is free.
Hired by the late Sam Wannamaker, whose dream it was to lead a reconstruction of Shakespeare’s Globe, Peter McCurdy served as the master craftsman on the construction of what is now the world’s most famous theatre. Following the extensive research on surviving buildings, historic documents, and other evidence, McCurdy turned to Shakespeare’s plays, which contained references to the form and material of the theatre.
