Marty Sataloff Earns Award


For 27 years, Athletic Trainer Marty Sataloff has been serving McDonogh’s student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff. During this time, the McDonogh community has recognized and appreciated his expertise as he and his staff manage 95 teams and more than 600 student-athletes each year. In mid-May, Marty was recognized and honored by his peers who presented him with the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award – District III at the Mid Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association annual meeting in Greenville, SC.

The prestigious award is given annually to the top athletic trainer in District III, which encompasses Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, North and South Carolina. To be eligible, candidates must have 20 years of certified membership in the Mid Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA) and have significant service at the district level.

Sataloff is a dedicated member of the Maryland Athletic Trainers Association where he has served as Vice President and President. He is an active member of the MAATA and has shared his knowledge at state, regional and national athletic trainer symposiums on a variety of topics including: Skin Diseases, Weight Loss in Wrestling, and Foot and Ankle Rehabilitation. In 2007, Marty became the first secondary school athletic trainer inducted into the Maryland Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame. He is a mentor to many aspiring athletic trainers, has played a key role in the development of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (MIAA) Athletic Training Committee, and has been the coordinator of the MIAA Wrestling Weight Certification program since 2000.
