Running to Remember: Second Annual Giddy Up 5K
On a beautiful Sunday morning in August, a group of
runners and volunteers met at Goucher College for the Second
Annual Giddy Up 5K in honor of Catie Carnes '10, a beloved
alumna who passed away suddenly the summer before her
freshman year of college. Runners and sleepwalkers who
registered raised money for the Catie Carnes Foundation,
Inc., an organization aimed at furthering
research on Juvenile Diabetes.
Catie's infectious joy warmed the hearts of those who
knew her, and members of the McDonogh community, including a
strong contingent from the Class of 2010, joined her many
friends and loved ones to support the foundation that helps
her name live on. "We lost her too soon," writes a
representative from the organization. "It is our greatest
hope that monies raised through this foundation make a
difference to those currently suffering from Juvenile
Diabetes, and possibly help to cure this disease."
