Second Grader Shows Compassion With Craft

Each year Tammy Rice’s first grade class makes holiday goodie bags and crafts for the children at St. Vincent's Villa, a residential home for abused children. Last year, the activity had such an impact on now-second grader Jaden D. that she found a way to continue giving to the children. First, she made “rainbow loom bracelets” for her teacher, a volunteer at St. Vincent’s, to deliver to the kids. Then, Jaden realized that the children might also like to make the bracelets, so she bought kits and rubber bands for the children so they, like her, could enjoy the craft.

But Jaden did not stop there. She combined her interests by holding a bracelet sale on Thursday, November 7, with the proceeds going to St. Vincent’s. She raised almost $300 for the Villa and looks forward to going with her first grade teacher to present the donation.
