Author to Speak on the Gift of Failure

Jessica Lahey, a popular parenting expert and the author of The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed, will speak at McDonogh on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Horn Theatre.

Lahey, who writes the popular bi-weekly "Parent-Teacher Conference" advice column for the New York Times and regularly appears in The Atlantic, will speak about her new book, which went into development after an article she wrote, "Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail" went viral in early 2013. Her book will be released in late 2014 by HarperCollins.

Lahey, a former English, Latin, and writing teacher, is a regular commentator for Vermont Public Radio and has appeared on the Today Show, Fox & Friends, HuffPost Live, and many other media outlets. She also writes a blog at www.jessicalahey.com. Lahey earned a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in juvenile and education law. She is an Albert Schweitzer Fellow for Life.

Plan to join the McDonogh community for this thought-provoking program sponsored by the MPA Parenting Education Committee.
