Blues-Folk Concert Tonight
Looking for a knee-slapping, foot-stomping, finger-snapping good time? Scott Ainslie, one of today's finest blues-folk
musicians, will perform in the Klein Lyceum in the Edward
St. John Student Center on Thursday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. In
addition to playing a traditional acoustic guitar and gourd
banjo, Ainslie will strum a 1935 National Steel resonator
guitar and his homemade one-string cigar box guitar. A
reception with the artist will follow the concert.
Upper School history teacher John Wood, who has arranged
for
Ainslie to perform at McDonogh for the second time, says
"Scott is simply astounding live. His love for the blues is
matched by his appreciation for his audience and his ability
to talk about his music." The Washington Post calls
his
voice “soulful” and “robust.”
Tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for students) will be sold
at the door or can be purchased by emailing John Wood at
jwood@mcdonogh.org.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit
Art with a
Heart, an organization that enhances the lives of
Baltimore's vulnerable youth and adults through visual art
classes and programs.
