Brianna J. '14 Named Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Brianna J. '14, who was named the January 22, 2014 female "Athlete of the Week" by the Baltimore Sun. Here’s what the write-up in the Sun says about the basketball player: The senior forward helped No. 1 McDonogh to four wins last week, including a 56-52 victory over No. 3 Roland Park in which she scored the last seven points of the game. Brianna, who finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, tied it on a 3-pointer with two minutes left and then hit two free throws and a layup to keep the Eagles (18-2) undefeated in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference. She averaged 11.4 points and 10.1 rebounds in helping the Eagles to wins over the Reds, then-No. 5 St. Frances and John Carroll as well as a 63-47 victory over four-time Massachusetts state champ Archbishop Williams at the Rose Classic Super Jam Sunday in New York City. She has averaged 10.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game this season. Brianna plays for the Maryland Pride Amateur Athletic Union team and will play basketball next season at Central Connecticut State.
