The Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG) recently announced that McDonogh School’s Director of Global Programs Hilary McDonough will serve as the GEBG Global Educator-in-Residence for the 2024-2025 school year. In this role, McDonough will lend her expertise to GEBG’s work in curriculum design and intercultural dialogue as a pedagogical tool.

While serving as GEBG’s Educator-in-Residence, McDonough will continue in her leadership role at McDonogh School where she has expanded the global education curriculum from a language exchange paradigm to a K-12 curriculum. As part of this effort, she and her team designed a Lower School Global Connections course and she also spearheaded an intercultural dialogue series with schools in France, Germany, Peru, and Senegal, which led to the launch of Global Ambassadors — a student leadership program.

McDonough’s work with GEBG was recently featured in an article, Guide to Global Programming Includes Contributions From McDonogh, in the summer 2024 issue of “McDonogh Magazine.” The story highlighted her contributions to GEBG’s 2024 publication, “Intercultural Dialogue: A Field Guide for Educators & Schools.” Currently, her focus is on how global engagement can unify and integrate schoolwide programs and efforts, from civil discourse to social impact initiatives.

“We are thrilled that Hilary’s global programming expertise has been recognized and will be shared with K-12 schools around the world,” says Head of McDonogh School Dave Farace ’87. “Her passion for facilitating experiences for students and faculty that help them understand the world in new and inspiring ways will have an even broader impact as GEBG’s Educator-in-Residence.”

During her GEBG residency, McDonough will continue to manage all aspects of McDonogh School's global and domestic travel learning programs including exchange programs with schools in Japan and Spain.
