Lower Schoolers Sow Seeds at Roots

Lower schoolers were hard at work on Roots Farm during the first week of April, planting a variety of seeds in small pots. As they carefully covered the tomato, pepper, and basil seeds with a layer of dirt and lightly sprayed them with water, Farmer Hood explained germination and companion planting. In a few weeks, the tender seedlings will be moved to bigger pots, and after Mother’s Day, when the threat of frost is over, the young plants will be moved from the greenhouse to their summer home on the farm.
