First Grade Calls Louisiana
Fifteen students in Mrs. Irving's first grade chatted with 28 of their peers in Mrs. Johnita Smith's first grade class at McDonogh 26 in Gretna, Louisiana today. They did so with the help of two computer-connected web cameras.
The students, separated by almost 1200 miles, were able to talk as if they were in the same room with their pen pals in New Orleans. They discussed local sports teams, weekend activities, and visits to the zoo.
When asked what they thought about the technology, McDonogh Baltimore first grader Brooke D. echoed the sentiments of her classmates. "It's just fantabulous!"
