The annual holiday caravan made its way from McDonogh to St. Gregory the Great Church in downtown Baltimore today, delivering Christmas gifts and grocery gift certificates to 128 families in need.
Students in all three divisions, teachers, staff, and families contributed to the effort. They sent wrapped gifts of warm clothes, stuffed animals, games, dolls, toy trucks, and more. They also provided contributions for grocery-store gift certificates so the families can shop for Christmas meals.
Two school groups offered their own handiwork. The Upper School Knitting Club produced 67 handmade scarves to be distributed, while Ms. Beach's seventh grade advisory made a baby quilt, several blankets, and a scarf for the family they sponsored.
Vehicles headed downtown as quickly as the middle- and upper-schoolers loaded them with gifts.
This is the 14th year for McDonogh's Holiday Project, which is coordinated by Director of Religious Studies John Grega.
