Recently dismissed from the Hogwarts Academy, fallen magician Bedford Bumblebore visited McDonogh’s holiday assembly on December 14 to seek the return of his powers. Listening to students’ vocal and instrumental music performances did the trick, so to speak. The holiday songs restored the magician’s confidence. At the same time, lower schoolers' “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” sung shoulder-to-shoulder, brought the community closer. And the Jazz Band’s “I Feel Good” got the whole crowd rocking.
Director of Religious Studies John Grega (Bedford Bumblebore) has orchestrated the schoolwide holiday assembly for the past 14 years. As the cleverly costumed master of ceremonies, he weaves his introductions to students’ performances into an original story that appeals to all ages.
