Honoring Mr. Warren
Campus friends present at the unveiling recalled a hard worker who loved to be around children, a man who could remember names and faces with ease, and an avid lottery player who would use birthdays and license plates to choose his winning numbers.
The children couldn’t help but respond to his warmth. For years, boys relied on “Mr. Warren” to tie their ties after gym class. When the girls came along, they, too, regarded him with affection. “He treated me like his granddaughter,” remembered Lindsay D. ’05. She also recalled what Mel would say each time she gave him a hug: "‘Now that helps my heart.’”
