Kindergarten Recovery from Flood

The recent weather difficulties have affected more than the McDonogh schedule. Dudley Hall, the school's kindergarten building, has suffered flood damage and Head of Lower School Noreen Lidston asked that Kindergarten room mothers share the following information with parents.

  • Due to flooding in Dudley Hall, we will have half-day kindergarten from Tuesday, Feb. 25 till Friday, Feb. 28. Children may take morning buses or be driven to school at the normal opening time, but must be picked up at noon.
  • Dudley Hall is not ready for occupancy. Therefore Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Hood will teach in the Kelly Center and Mrs. Rice will teach in Beckie Lamborn's room.
  • Academic subjects - reading, writing, and math - will be taught in the morning.
  • Children will miss activities like lunch, PE, rest time, and some specials (including art).
  • Noontime pick-up will be at the carpool line by the benches.
  • On Monday afternoon, teachers were setting up in their new locations. Throughout the rest of the week, they will work in the afternoons and evenings to restore teaching space in Dudley Hall.
  • Parents are asked to send in dismissal notes, informing us as to the plans for each child's dismissal.
  • If we open two hours late, parents are asked to bring their children to school at noon. There will be an afternoon kindergarten session, including lunch and academics.
  • Report cards will come home with the children on Wednesday.
