Lower, Middle Schools Pledge With Nation
At 2 p.m. on Friday, October 12, the scene was the same in all Lower School classrooms and in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre, where middle schoolers gathered. Hands on hearts, students and teachers stood before the American flag and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. In doing so, they joined students across the country in a synchronized show of patriotism.
U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige contacted school administrators around the nation and encouraged them to participate. Said Paige, "Together, we can send a loud and powerful message that will be heard around the world: America is 'one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'"
