Pumpkin Carving Contest Benefits Katrina Victims

On Thursday, October 27, about thirty Upper School students and faculty gathered outside the Ceres M. Horn Theatre to carve pumpkins for Katrina relief. Students planned the contest to ultimately help renew the spirits of students and faculty at McDonogh School #26 in Gretna, Louisiana.

Participants donated $6 to enter the contest, and all proceeds will benefit our partner school that experienced severe damage from Hurricane Katrina. The finished jack-o-lanterns adorned the lobby of Horn Theatre for Lower School students to admire on their annual Halloween Parade around campus on Friday, October 28.

The pumpkin carving contest, spearheaded by senior Amy R., is just one of many efforts underway at McDonogh to support School #26.
