Some of McDonogh’s most musically talented students and ’07 graduates will give a benefit concert for the Baltimore Talent Education Center (BTEC) this Thursday, January 10 at 7 p.m. in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre. Tickets are $5 at the door. The group is also selling t-shirts for $15, which also includes concert admission.
BTEC provides instruments, lessons, and scholarships for Baltimore City Public School students who want to learn music, explains concert organizer Jeremy Bengson ’07.
He learned about BTEC from his strings teacher, Andrew Shaud, and rallied friends to give a concert for the cause.
“I've always enjoyed making and sharing music, and have always looked for ways to incorporate that into giving back to the community, specifically giving other people the same opportunity to pursue music that McDonogh so graciously provided for me,” Jeremy says.
McDonogh performers include instrumental and vocal musicians Greg B. ’08, Jeremy, Diane Dao ’07, Robby Ford ’07, Steven J.’10, Nick Kruter ’07, Taylor Lamborn ’07, Malcolm M.-H. ’08, Neil Parikh ’07, Prashant Sabapathi ’07, Sid S. '08, and Terrell Winder ’07. Members of McDonogh’s string orchestra and BTEC strings players will also perform.
